Business Objects certification can be gained in one of five key areas. The BOBJ certification granted is that of Business Objects Certified Professional (BOCP). To the end of this Business Objects certification is added the area of competence or specialisation.
BO Certifications are earned by passing two or three exams. Each specialisation requires its own set of exams.
Business Objects Certification Overview
Business Objects Enterprise
Three exams are required to gain the Business Objects Enterprise specialisation. These are SABE201, SABE301 and SABE401. Passing all three exams will award you the Business Objects certification of Business Objects Enterprise – BOCP-BOE.
All exams are of the multiple choice answer type of questions.
The first exam is SABE201 – Business Objects Enterprise XIR2 Administering Users & Content. This exam consists of 40 multiple choice questions, to be answered in 80 minutes. The pass mark is 65%.
The second exam is SABE301 – Administering Servers. This exam contains 50 questions. Slightly more time is give for this exam – 100 minutes, and the pass mark is 67%.
The final exam is SABE401 – Designing and Deploying (Windows). This exam contains 40 questions, and you are given 80 minutes. The pass mark in this exam is 66%.
An update to these exams is also available – SABE501 – XI 3.0 Update. This exam consists of 40 questions with an 80 minute time limit. The pass mark is
65%. This update exam can only be taken by candidates who have already earned their BOCP-BOE. Business Objects Data Integrator
Two exams are required to gain the Business Objects Data Integrator specialisation. These are DMDI201 and DMDI301. Passing both exams will award you the Business Objects certification of Business Objects Data Integrator – BOCP-BODI.
The first exam is DMDI201 – BusinessObjects DataIntegrator XI – Level One, which has 46 questions, to be answered in 92 minutes. The pass mark is 75%.
The second exam is DMDI301 – BusinessObjects DataIntegrator XI – Level Two. This certification exam has 42 questions to be answered in 84 minutes. The pass mark is 55%.
Business Objects Data Integrator is now also known as Business Objects Data Services. Business Objects Crystal Reports XI
Two exams are required to gain the Business Objects Crystal Reports XI certification. These are RDCR201 and RDCR301. Passing both exams will award you the Business Objects certification in Business Objects Crystal Reports XI – BOCP-CR.
The first exam is RDCR201 – Crystal Reports XI – Level One. This exam consists of 45 questions, to be answered in 90 minutes. It has a pass mark of 65%.
The second exam is RDCR301 – Crystal Reports XI – Level Two. This BO exam consists of 40 certification questions, to be answered in 80 minutes. This exam has a pass mark of 70%.
There is an update exam, allowing users with the BOCP – CR certification to update to the 2008 certification. The exam is the RDCR08401. This exam can only be
taken by candidate s who have passed the levels 1 and 2 exams and attained the BOCP – CR XI certification.
Crystal Reports 2008
Two exams are required to gain the Business Objects Crystal Reports 2008 specialisation. These are RDCR08201 and RDCR08301. Passing both exams will award you the certification in Business Objects Crystal Reports 2008 – BOCP-CR 2008.
The first exam towards Crystal Reports certification is RDCR08201 – Crystal Reports 2008 – Level One. This exam consists of 62 questions, to be answered in 124 minutes. It has a pass mark of 65%.
The second exam is RDCR08301 – Crystal Reports 2008 – Level Two. This exam consists of 48 questions, to be answered in 96 minutes. This exam has a pass mark of 70%.
Web Intelligence
A new suite of exams has recently been developed to allow users to gain a competency in Web Intelligence.
Two exams are required to gain the Business Objects Web Intelligence specialisation. These are QAWI201V3.0 and QAWI301V3.0. Passing both exams will award you the certification in Business Objects Web Intelligence.
QAWI201V3.0: Business Objects Certified Professional Web Intelligence XI 3.0 Level One.
QAWI301V3.0: Business Objects Certified Professional Business Objects Web Intelligence XI 3.0 Level Two.
Registering and sitting the exams
Users can register for any of these exams by visiting the Pearson Vue test website.
Alternatively, bookings can be made via phone.
There are many Pearson VUE test centers throughout the world, so there is bound to be one near you. Once you have found a suitable test center, you select the test you want to take. a list of available dates is then presented. Select your preferred date and time and make the payment. You test is then confirmed via email.
On they day of the test, you will need to arrive early in order to sign in. After completing the sign in process, and once your identity is verified, you are taken to the test room.
Once you complete your test, your test score will be displayed on screen in a few minutes. You will then be given a printout of your score. Pearson automatically notify Business Objects of your test results and you will be sent a certificate, normally within 6 weeks.
If you fail the exam, do not worry. These exams can be retaken as many times as you wish, subject to payment of the relevant fee. Also note that you need to leave five working days between retakes.
