Below is a guide on how to gain your Oracle certification. Oracle certifications are awarded at three levels:
- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA)
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- Oracle Certified Master (OCM)
Oracle Certification Overview
Oracle Certified Associate (OCA)
The Oracle Certified Associate certification is gained by passing either:
- Oracle Database 12c SQL 1Z0-071 or
- Oracle Database 12c: SQL Fundamentals 1Z0-061 or
- Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I 1Z0-051 or
- Oracle Database SQL Expert 1Z0-047
You then need to pass one of these exams:
- Oracle Database 12c: Installation and Administration 1Z0-062
- Oracle Database 12c Administration 1Z0-075
This exam consists of 84 questions, to be taken in 120 minutes. The pass score is 68%. Note that the pass scores do change frequently as the
exams are updated. Check with your test center for the latest pass mark.
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
The Oracle Certified Professional certification is gained by taking one of their official certification courses.
You then need to take this exam:
Oracle Database 12c: Advanced Administration 1Z0-063
This exam consists of 90 questions, to be taken in 90 minutes. The pass score is 70%.
In addition to the exam, the certification requires the attendance at one of the approved instructor-led online or in-class courses. A form confirming attendence needs to be completed and verified to enable you to gain the certification.
Oracle Certified Master (OCM)
The Oracle Certified Master certification is gained by two of their official advanced certification courses.
You then need to take the following exam:
Oracle Database 12c Certified Master Exam 12COCM
These exams are spread over two days and are conducted in a dedicated server lab. For this particular certification, you are notified of a pass or fail in 4-5 weeks.
Additionally, the certification requires the attendance at two of the approved instructor-led online or in-class advanced courses. These courses must be different to those taken for the OCP certification.
A form confirming attendance needs to be completed and verified to enable you to gain the certification.
Registering and sitting the exams
The Oracle certification exams can be booked via the Prometric Oracle Test Website. There are many Prometric test sites throughtout the world, so there is
bound to be one near you. Once you have found a suitable test center, you select the test you want to take. A list of available dates and times will be presented. Select your preferred date and time and make the payment. You test is then confirmed via email.
On they day of the test, you will need to arrive early in order to sign in. After completing the sign in process, and once your identity is verified, you are taken to the test room.
